Chapter 46

That in comparison with the standard we observe in lesser things more zeal is required of us in greater things.

Lk. xiii. 15; 16; Lk. xviii. 1 omit αὐτούς K; 2; 3; 4 καὶ... οὐκ for οὐδέ K; 5; 6; 7 πρὸς αὐτόν for αὐτῷ K; 2 Tim. ii. 4; 5.

That in comparison with those who in lesser things have shown fear springing from faith, and zeal springing from praiseworthy desire, those who are convicted of contempt or carelessness in greater things incur more serious condemnation.

Lk. xi. 31; Mt. xii. 41.

That he who shows zeal for lesser things must not despise greater things; but doing the greater commandments with special zeal he must also fulfil the lesser.

Mt. xxiii. 23 omit δέ after ταῦτα K; 24.
